ProLeg is a cross-border cooperation project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Interreg VI-A Estonia–Latvia Programme 2021–2027. The project is implemented by two partner organisations; TFTAK (Estonia) and SIA “Aloja-Starkelsen” (Latvia) with the aim of transforming legume-derived proteins and fibres from feed-grade raw materials into high-value food ingredients for human consumption.
The project combines TFTAK’s expertise in protein technology and food innovation with Alojas’ capabilities in agri-food production and processing. This cross-border collaboration enables the partners to integrate research, development, and practical applications, facilitating knowledge exchange and creating solutions applicable across both regions.
Expected results include the development of new legume-based food applications, improved functional properties of plant-based ingredients, and increased industrial utilisation of sustainable raw materials. The project also aims to strengthen knowledge exchange and cross-border cooperation between partners.
